Andrea & Steve

Italian Alps Civil Wedding

The Details

The Story

If your entire family skies then it makes real sense to get married in Italy at one of the finest Alpine ski resorts close to the borders with France and Switzerland. So Andrea and Steve pulled their family members together for the most enjoyable wedding in Italy, full of laughing, joking, and of course love.

A typical log cabin style venue in the small town of La Salle just outside of Courmayeur and at the foot of Mont Blanc is where the couple chose to tie their knot after a longlasting romance.  Kids grown up and finally on their own, Andrea wanted to make her wedding memorable and with mother nature’s help, the wedding day was absolutely fabulous:   about a meter of fresh snow  had just been dumped on Mont Blanc and the sky was clear of clouds and full of bright sunshine for spending the first few days on the slopes.  The epitome of a white wedding in the Italian Alps!

There was just no stopping the laughter the whole wedding day. Andrea and her bridesmaids – her own daughter and her bff – were snapping a few poses before they started on their walk to the town hall, but when the photographer asked the bridesmaids to lean in and kiss the bride, they all cracked up, howling, and couldn’t stop.

Anyone one who knows the Brits knows they love their football (soccer for the others).  So once the serious, civil ceremony was over, what better way to release the tension than to kick a ball around on the 5-a-side pitch?  Middle of the winter, in the Italian Alps, on your wedding day, playing football – brilliant!

There’s more laughter to come … Andrea had asked her best friend cake designer to make figurines of a few of their closest ski buddies to personalize their Mont Blanc wedding cake.  The funniest was one of their friends in a robe with martini in hand, know for her drinking skills more than her skiing technique.

Their multicourse Italian wedding meal was topped of with a slice of Mont Blanc – a chestnut cream cake named after the famous snowcapped peaks – and a sweet Italian Spumante to toast the newlyweds – Auguri!
